Apple Pickin & Apple Pie Makin

We woke up early and drove to Golden Harvest Farms in Valatie. We chose this spot apparently they have the best cider donuts. And they do.

We set out to pick a ½ bushel of apples and started by taste testing all the available varieties. The jonagolds are definitely my favorite. Then we picked up a ½ dozen donuts (+2 for immediate consumption) and apple cider.

Sunday

I put those apples to work.

(Right before I rolled out the dough, I realized that I don’t own a rolling pin. I found that a cling wrapped a wine bottle rolled dough quite nicely.)
