Yesterday we visited the Pine Hollow Arboretum in Slingerlands. We saw the sign for the arboretum during one of our drives out to Rensselaerville.
At the Visitor Center we received a map and a self-guided tour pamphlet. We also received a quick little tutorial on how to read the map and general access to the grounds. Then we were off into this magical, beautiful place, with the hum of the highways in the background.
This might be the best place to meet the urge to (safely) get lost in the woods. It’s so delightful. Filled with paths, ponds, and interesting trees. We were there for about an hour and only covered about half of the grounds.

Recipe for the perfect day date:
- Get lost inside the Pine Hollow Arboretum.
- Enjoy homemade ice cream at Toll Gate.
- optional: Buy two freshly steamed lobsters at ShopRite for an early dinner.
